My personal favourite spots in Brussels. Some nice places to shop and eat while exploring the city.

This post will not be about the must see tourist places in this city. I want to show you some local treasures that I have found over the years.
Most of these are in walking distance of each other. But if you are not big on walking i would suggest renting a bike or getting a 24 hour STIB card. With this card you can take every tram, bus and metro in the city.
Dille en Kamille

Dille&Kamille is a concept store that focusses on your kitchen, garden and home. They offer good quality products made from natural materials.
If you are looking for some good food, tea or spices you will also love this place! they have a small bar in the middle of the store with the most delicious carrot cake.
I pesonally love their cookbooks, stationary and tea selection.

Episode

Now on to Episode. The best vintage store in town in my opinion. They are a little more expensive than your usual thrift stores but its well worth it. No digging trough a mountain of ugly pieces to find a gem. Everything in the store is well selected and the only thing you have to do is find your size.
You will find tons of Levi's, Leather skirts, velvet, vintage dresses, converse and so much more.
Its truly second hand heaven in my opinion. Skip the fast fashion and find some unique gems here.
I promise you will not walk out empty handed.
The store can get busy though. So it is best to go early (they open at 10 am) or close to closing time (6pm) if you don't love the crowds.

Melting pot Kilo

Melting Pot Kilo is another second hand store. As the name says you pay by Kilo.
15 euros/kilogram is a great price in my opinion. I have already bought dresses for a euro as they tend to be light. That is a pro tip for this store, stick to the lighter fabrics to get the most out of you money.
even tough i love the concept of this store, a little more digging is required. Their selection is not as good as Episode. But still you will find a lot of good stuff if you have some patience.
They have two locations in the city:

Coco Donuts

To be honest i come here way to often. I would be 3 kilograms lighter if i would not know about this little café.
Hidden in a little sidestreet of the Grand Sablon you can find the best donuts you will ever eat. The shop is owned by two girls who have mastered the art of donut.
Every morning they make a fresh batch of donuts in various different flavours.
My favourites are the cinnamon sugar, the mapple pecan and the white chocolate with speculoos. They also have a great drinks selection and serve some amazing coffee.
Keep in mind that they sell out throughout the day. So i would recommand to go around 11 in the morning so you can choose from all their options.
Makisu

Makisu has in my opinion the best sushi in town. They have two shops at the moment and are working on opening up a third.
They have a great selections of sushi with a twist.
Their service is fast, prices are low and the food is delicious. Be sure to check out their tempura too. It's just too delicious.
Be sure to arive around 6pm because it sure is a populair place! You can also order online and pick up your sushi for a nice picknick.
They have a lovely feature: You can make your own sushi! choose your style and filling and enjoy. Great for vegetarians like me.

Les Petits Riens

Les Petit Riens has stores all over Brussels. You will most likely find one within 15 minutes from your location. Most of them are rather small but they have a big location at Rue des Americanes.
They are basic thrift stores that require digging trough piles to find some gems. But they have some amazing things to offer. They also receive stock with some small defaults from H&M.
At Rue des Americanes they also have a bike shop, a furniture store, a book store and a really overpriced vintage store.
Bar des Amis

I have a few favourite bars in Brussels and this sure is one of them! They have amazing cocktails a great selection of Belgian beers and an amazing atmosphere. Some days you can find live performances.
If you get hungry i would also suggest grabbing a bite next doors at Amadeus. It is a restaurant dedicated to ribs.
MIMA

MIMA: The Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art Museum. MIMA is a contemporary art museum. Their exhibitions change around 3 times a year. The exhibitions are always quirky. Its a small museum but it is always packed with art.
After your visit you can chill at their lovely café.
Keep in mind that they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays
