The list of countries I want to travel to is endless. Each year I like to make a bucket list so I can focus on where I want to go and when in the year I want to go. This makes planning and saving up easier. I consider what is realistic and when I really can’t travel (during exams for example). This is my list for 2019. It are less countries than I usually would consider but two of my trips are huge and expensive so the rest will be a bit more understated.

1. China
This is a big one for this year. My best friend studies abroad in China for a year and I want to go visit her (and I also think she really wants me to come). This trip will be my big trip for the year, and it will take up a huge chunk of my budget. It is worth it though as this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The plan is to go in April and spend my birthday on the other side of the world.

2. Germany
I love berlin, I’m even planning to live there one day, but I haven’t seen any other parts of Germany yet. So, this year I want to make an effort to see more of the beautiful nature this country has to offer, set my focus on some of the other main cities, all while not skipping out on the authentic rural towns.

3. Northern Europe
Think Norway, Sweden and Finland, but also the hidden gems of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. I would love to travel all these countries in one go by train. Buying a interrail pass for 2 weeks so I can travel Norway, Sweden and Finland and rely on local trains and busses in the other three countries as the rail pass does not cover them.
This will be my other expensive trip. This means it will have to be in the second half of the year. I am leaning towards November/December so I can experience the snow.

4. The Netherlands
Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities in the world, but it is not the only city that my neighboring country has to offer. As it is so simple to just take the Flixbus to any city in the Netherlands I am making it my goal to take more weekend trips to other cities like Rotterdam, Utrecht and Den Haag of example.

5. Belgium
Last but not least I want to focus on my own backyard a bit more. Discovering cities in my own country as daytrips seems like an amazing time to spend weekends to me. Nice and cheap but still a little adventure!
